Esports & the Creative Media Industries Institute: Georgia State Hosts Inaugural PantherLAN Esports Tournament
The PantherLAN tournament was held Oct. 20, with 7 universities participating. Participating institutions included Georgia State, Georgia Gwinnett College, Georgia Southern University, Kennesaw State University, Oglethorpe University, the University of Georgia and the University of West Georgia.
Georgia State’s varsity esports team was founded in 2017, and is among the more than 30 colleges and universities nationwide participating in the National Association of Collegiate Esports and other Georgia academic institutions in the Georgia Esports League.
Esports at Georgia State are administered through the university’s Creative Media Industries Institute, an initiative under the institution’s Strategic Plan.
